Remembering Skier Jamie Pierre

Skier Jamie Pierre died this past weekend in a Utah avalanche and memorials and comments around the web have piled up in response. Warren Miller Entertainment put together this short tribute video to honor the 38-year-old athlete who appeared in a number of their films, including Cold Fusion and Playground. Pierre achieved fame as the first skier to hit Little Cottonwood Canyon's Pyramid Gap and for his 255-foot drop off a cliff in the backcountry of Grand Targhee.

In the below 2006 clip from Park City TV, Pierre spoke about his evolution as a skier and what motivated him to push the limits of big air. He also spoke about the new skiing approach he planned to take as a result of his young family—a change referenced in a Salt Lake Tribune article posted after his death.
