Runners at the Teva Mountain Games could participate in any (or all) of three events last weekend: the Vail Pass Half Marathon, the 10K Spring Runoff and the Mud Run. The Mud Run, which sold out at 400 participants, was by far the most popular event. Sponsored by Eddie Bauer, the "race" consisted of three laps around the Mountain Plaza/Vista Bahn base area. The approximately 5K course included mud bogs, log bridges and other obstacles. Some participants were in it to win it (including one guy who ran so hard out of the gate that he took a nose dive less than 50 yards from the start). Others, such as Kyle Simonett of Vail, participated just for fun. "Life is meant to be enjoyed," Simonett says. "Get dirty."
