It takes a certain type of person (bold) to rock Astis' elaborately beaded mitts, but if you want to make a statement, these are as warm and waterproof as it gets. The California-based company used silicon-injected suede leather for the outer, and stuffed it with a high-loft Polartec inner that kept my hands warm during a single-digit powder day at Alta. As great as the peformance is, the real reason you get this mitts is skin deep (I can’t tell you how many compliments I was given in the lift line). Astis makes 36 different patterns in gloves and mitts for both men and women, including state flags, cowboy, and custom.
