The Marin Museum of Bicycling, which will be the new home of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, officially opens this Saturday, Bicycling reported Wednesday.
Crested Butte, Colorado, has been the home of the hall of fame for the past 15 years. The new location in Fairfax, California, offers more space, and Marin County, which encompasses Fairfax, is considered the birthplace of mountain biking.
The hall of fame will include about 40 bikes and frames, with 28 bikes on permanent display, as well as supporting artifacts, mountain bike pioneer Joe Breeze told Bicycling.
The ribbon cutting on Saturday will feature live music, trick riders, and face painting. The Marin Museum of Bicycling will be an all-volunteer effort, according to Breeze, who sits on the museum’s board.
