Health-tracking mobile apps MyFitnessPal and MapMyFitness compiled user data to rank the healthiest and least healthy states in the country, according to information released by MapMyFitness on Monday. The app company pulled data from 65 million users on MyFitnessPal and 25 million users on MapMyFitness to analyze users’ diet and exercise habits. It then rated each state’s health, based on four dietary factors (consumed calories, sodium, fiber, and sugar) and the frequency and length of workout sessions.
“Seven of our top 10 active states were western states,” Rebecca Silliman, a communications representative for MyFitnessPal, told Reuters.
