ESPN and the America’s Cup finalized a deal for the cable network to broadcast the 35th edition of the sailing event, race organizers announced in a statement on Thursday.
The race will be held in Bermuda in May and June 2017. Team Oracle, which won the last America’s Cup, will compete against the winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup qualifying series, which began in July.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for ESPN International to broadcast one of the marquee sailing events in world sport,” Tim Bunnell, senior vice president of production, programming, marketing, and advertising sales of ESPN International, said in a statement. “Fans will be able to watch live and highlight programming of the America’s Cup on a variety of platforms, including television, broadband, and mobile.”
