Summer is the season for multisporting. Thanks to ample sunlight, in a single day you can squeeze in a pre-breakfast trail run, a midday paddle, and an afternoon mountain bike ride before capping it off with moonlit yoga. Sounds fun, right? But planning all that—packing the right gear, sorting out where to go, and figuring out how to get from one sport to another once you’re there—sounds as exhausting as the activities themselves. So we rounded up some places, from hotels to retreats to outfitters, that’ll handle the logistics so all you have to do is send it.
Hunter Mountain, New York; Bear Valley, California
A self-styled summer camp for grown-ups, these three-day adventures include small-group outings with instructional tips from professional guides. During the day, you’ll mountain bike, rock climb, paddleboard, trail run, and fly-fish. At night, you’ll toast marshmallows around the campfire. You can even take classes on subjects like outdoor first aid, night photography, and camp cooking. All meals, drinks, and either a deluxe teepee or standard tent come included (from $574). This year, there’s one camp in Hunter Mountain, New York, June 29–July 1, and one in Bear Valley, California, August 10–12.
Mountain Mindfulness Week
At Vail Marriott Mountain Resort, if you book a stay between August 18 and 29 (from $329), you can partake in the hotel’s new Mountain Mindfulness Week, which features prearranged activities like outdoor spin classes facing the ski area, mountaintop yoga, and guided hiking. Your room will come stocked with a foam roller, yoga mat, and Fitbit. While you’re in town, there are plenty of other activities to add to your multisporting stay, from lift-accessed mountain biking to taking the free, daily fly-fishing casting clinic at Gore Creek.
Todos Santos, Mexico
During this south of the border getaway, you’ll spend five nights at YogaKoh’s Yoga X Surf Retreat (from $2,195). The trip, taking place July 19–24, focuses on yoga and surfing but also includes hiking, horseback riding, meditation, and daily trips to the beach. You’ll stay at Pachamama Mexico, a boutique hotel with an infinity pool, adobe teepees, and on-site yoga center and outdoor yoga deck. Located just outside the town of Todos Santos on the Baja Peninsula, the hotel also has mountain bikes you can borrow to rip the local trails.
And She’s Dope Too
First launched as an Instagram account in 2014 to show women’s multifaceted awesomeness, And She’s Dope Too has grown into so much more. Today, the collective hosts retreats and gatherings as a way to bring women of all ages together and encourage them to step outside their comfort zone by trying new outdoor activities. In September, they’ll host a three-day rendezvous in Huntsville, Utah, that’ll include SUP yoga, trail running, mountain biking, and two nights of camping.
Palm Springs, California
On this four-day guided trip with REI Adventures, you’ll hike through the rocky canyons of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California’s largest state park, then sea kayak through 75 million-year-old caves along the La Jolla coast, before biking along Mission Beach. The trip includes three nights of hotels, air transportation, plus gear, meals, and guides (from $2,199), and excursions are currently slated for November and December.
San Juan Outfitters
San Juan Islands, Washington
Sea kayaking Washington’s San Juan Islands is a bucket list trip, but there’s actually a ton more to do besides just paddling among these iconic Northwestern isles in search of orca whales and bald eagles. San Juan Island Outfitters offers customizable multisport trips where you’ll hike mountain vistas like Mount Finlayson or Mount Young and road bike past the orchards and wineries on Lopez or Orcas Island.
