You can’t beat cast iron for cooking around a campfire. It’s durable, amenable to high heats, and, when seasoned correctly, naturally non-stick. Recently brands have begun to put their own spin on the material, creating fancy Dutch ovens and $200 pans. We dig it, but we also appreciate Lodge, one of the preeminent cast-iron brands, known for making quality products at a reasonable price. Here are some of the best Lodge pots, pans, and griddles, according to Amazon reviewers.

Pre-Seasoned Skillet ($15)

“I was nervous about cooking in cast iron. What is all this talk about a seasoned pan? Is it going to be too heavy? But I ended up loving these skillets. To season, just coat the pan with a light layer of cooking oil and put it in the oven upside down at 450 degrees for 20 minutes. Then turn the oven off and let the pan cool off. That’s it! You’ll have to chase a fried egg around the pan it’s so slippery!”

Cast Iron Round Griddle ($15)

“I bought this griddle to make pancakes and it’s been nothing but a joy. I also filled the entire pan with egg batter and made scrambled eggs and then mixed that in a mixing bowl with rice which I had made in the rice cooker to produce egg-fried rice. It worked great. There’s nothing like cooking on cast iron. It creates a self-contained uniform heat that produces wonderfully consistent results.”

Cast Iron Reversible Grill and Griddle ($45)

The Reversible Griddle is perfect for me. It’s currently nestled on top of my two gas burners on my stove. My burners measure 17.5 inches across and the 20-inch griddle fits nicely on them. It has become my go-to piece of cookware. It is large enough to sear several steaks at a time, giving them a beautiful flavorful crust. Eggs, pancakes, French toast, grilled cheese, bacon, stir-fry, salmon, and literally anything I have thrown at it has been cooked faster and with more flavor than a normal pan.”

Cast Iron Square Grill Pan ($19)

“I bought this grill pan after reading all the great reviews. I seasoned it three times the day I got it by coating it with Crisco and putting it in the oven on 350 for an hour. I did this for three cycles and it put an awesome nonstick layer on the pan. I used it for the first time tonight and grilled pork chops with sautéed mushrooms and onions. It turned out excellent! I started on high heat to sear the meat and then I turned it down to a low to medium heat. The meat cooked quickly and was really tender.”

Cast Iron Combo Cooker ($35)

“I love this set. It is now my go-to set of cookware and it lives on my stovetop. I am single and the size is perfect for me. I use it to bake bread and use the lid as a skillet. Since I use this all the time the seasoning is coming along nicely. The frying pan is now almost smooth and cooking well. My only real advice is that if you are thinking about getting into cast iron, save yourself some money and buy this set first.”

Lodge P14W3 Seasoned Cast Iron Wok ($50)

(Lodge)

This wok is fantastic. It came pre-seasoned as advertised. There were no flaws that we could see, and the inside surface was smooth. The wok is heavy and flat on the bottom so it won’t move around on the stove when cooking. In our opinion, this makes it safer than other pans.”

The Ringer Stainless Steel Cast Iron Cleaner ($14)

(Lodge)

“I love my wife’s cooking and she loves cooking with cast iron. Since she’s the cook, I’m the dishwasher and I’ve been trying to find a good way to clean the pans. I tried the stainless-steel cleaner and I couldn’t be happier. My wife made cheeseburgers and some cheese was baked into the pan. I didn’t get to the pan until the next day but the result was a much cleaner pan even between the raised grill surfaces.”
