Roman Dial is a pioneering American adventurer and a professor of mathematics and biology at Alaska Pacific University. He is an explorer and the author of The Adventurer’s Son. A former National Geographic Explorer, he received his Ph.D. from Stanford University and lives in Anchorage, Alaska.

On July 10, 2014, Cody Roman Dial, the 27-year-old son of explorer Roman Dial, entered the coastal rainforest of Costa Rica's Corcovado National Park to begin a solo, multi-day hike.
