The Atlas Obscura is holding their second annual International Obscura Day this Saturday. Around 100 events will take place all over the world, on every continent. Head to Buenos Aires to check out the Xul Solar Museum, South Africa for the Owl House Museum, or Ross Island in Antarctica for an Obscura Day celebration. Texas will have a tour of the Museum of the Weird, as well as a visit to the Beer Can House, and Lucas, Kansas, will host a tour of the World's Largest Collection of the World's Smallest Versions of the World's Largest Things.
The Atlas Obscura is a compendium of the world's wonders, curiosities, and esoterica. In other words, Obscura looks to the locals for the most interesting places in their hometowns that are usually left out of travel guides and missed by tourists. As the Obscura folks say, “if each one of us recognizes how weird the world right around the corner truly is, than we've done our job.”
