Where can I take my pooch?
Question: Is there some type of resource out there that can tell me where I can take my dog camping, hiking, and swimming on the East Coast?

Adventure Adviser: Because regulations vary so much, there isn’t a good one-stop resource or guidebook that I can suggest. The best strategy for you is to first figure out where you’d like to go and then find out if dogs are welcome by,
heck, simply calling the recreation area, state, or national park in question. Or, feel free to check back with me once you’ve narrowed the choices down. You’ll find that in many parks, like Maine’s Acadia National Park, leashed dogs are allowed almost everywhere except in the backcountry and at beaches. Still, you and Sparky can camp legally at any number of drive-in sites in
the area and find a good nearby town beach for swimming.
