Unless you're a professional videographer and friends with athletes Julia Mancuso, Kelly Slater, and J.T. Holmes, it's unlikely that any video you shoot with GoPro's Hero 3 Black camera will come off as tight as the five-minute clip the company has put together. That's not the point though. The point is for you to get hassle-free, point-of-view shots in extreme—or not—conditions that you'd otherwise miss—now with less bulk and higher quality video. The high-end version of the new GoPro, the Hero 3 Black, is 30 percent smaller, 25 percent lighter, and twice as powerful as the previous version. It also comes with a Wi-Fi remote ($399).

The Black shoots 12-megapixel photos and 1080p video at up to 60fps—it also shoots video at 4K at 12fps. There are cheaper versions, the White ($199) and Silver ($299), with lesser quality video and fewer capabilities. For more on the cameras, check out GoPro.
