National Geographic filmmakers were tracking elephant herds in Africa for the upcoming Great Migrations, airing in November, when a giant sand storm blasted into them, The Adventure Blog reports.

In the video, the huge wall of sand slams into the filmmakers and turns the sky red, then black. But the crew continues shooting and shouts awed commentary as the four-hour sand storm rages around them. “It's like the world came to an end,” says cameraman Bob Poole.

I couldn't help but notice a faint similarity between Poole and a dusty Viggo Mortensen. Hidalgo, anyone?
