Our fact-checkers have had some sensitive, even absurd conversations with sources over the years, but nothing compares with a rather definitive exchange research assistant Meaghen Brown had with Burning Man co-creator John Law while verifying the accuracy of this issue's oral history of the festival (“Hot Mess“). Behold, the greatest fact-check reply in the history of Outside:

Hi Meaghen,
We were not in the back seat. The experience was very specific. We intended to do the single most American thing we could think of, and this was it: We were in the front seat, driving 70 miles per hour, on mushrooms (not any other drug), shooting my police special .38 revolver out th window, drinking from a bottle of red wine, and having sex—all at the same time. Tripping. Shooting guns. Swilling wine. Having sex. Driving fast. With the headlights out. Very exact experience. No ambiguity. OK, hope that answers your question!
