As promised, we gathered some of the greatest musical minds in our office to create an eclectic playlist for your next drive to the ski hill. We're not Rolling Stone, but we know a thing or two about hitting the right mix of mellow (because you're up early enough to make first chair, right?) and pump-up (because your coffee should be kicking in right as the parking lot comes into view). See the full playlist below, with commentary from some of the Outsiders who contributed.

The Adrenaline Junkie: Jakob Schiller, Online Gear Editor

Some of his picks: “Soy Yo” by Bomba Estéreo; “Alors On Danse” by Stromae; “The Greatest” by Sia

“It sounds corny, but I want my ski mix to be high-energy. By the time I get out of the car I want to be pumped! I don't need any motivation to go skiing, ever, but music for me is just like that cup of coffee sitting in the console of my truck. By the end of the day I need to mellow out, but in the morning I want to be raging.”

The Showman: Bryan Rogala, Video Production Manager

Some of his picks: “Everlasting Light” by The Black Keys; “When the Tequila Runs Out” by Dawes; “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars

On Taylor Swift's “Shake It Off”: “My friend and I once did a snow dance to the entire song in the parking lot of Outback Pizza in Taos. At the end of the song, it started snowing. No lie.”

The Chiller: Marie Sullivan, Associate Video Producer

Some of her picks: “White Flag” by Joseph; “Devil's Whisper” by Raury; “Solar Laws” by Yellerkin

“I've really been enjoying the album Utopia Defeated from D.D Dumbo. It's mellow and a little weird, which is great for a non-morning person like myself who likes to ease into a day on the mountain. My playlist is usually on the quieter side, not a lot of heavy bass drops in my car. I like to have a feel-good mix that gears everyone up for the day. If I can get one ‘What song is this?’ from my car comrades, it's a ski road trip success.”

The Defender of Classics: Luke Whelan, Assistant Editor

Some of his picks: “Turn It Around” by Lucius; “I Remember” by AlunaGeorge; “Let Me Love You” by DJ Snake feat. Justin Bieber

“I guess some would consider ‘Let Me Love You’ a guilty pleasure, but do we really have to be guilty about loving Justin Bieber in 2016? I say no.” (Editor's note: Whelan also expressed his continued endorsement of last year's Ski Song of the Year, “My Silver Lining” by First Aid Kit.)

The CPR Enthusiast: Wes Judd, Online Fitness Editor

His pick: “Stayin' Alive” by Bee Gees

“That song is bonk-proof. I swear, it has saved me from so many lows.” (Editor's note: we can't endorse listening to this while skiing for safety reasons, but “Stayin' Alive” also works as a pick-me-up song when you're getting tired of driving.)

The Hater: Scott Rosenfield, Digital Editorial Director

Some of his picks: “A 1000 Times” by Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam; “You Want It Darker” by Leonard Cohen; “i hate u, i love u” by gnash

“My guilty pleasures are sad relationship songs. Also, I don't like skiing.”
