Turns out maximally cushioned shoes are faster than you think
This past summer, Hoka One One came down to New Mexico and paid us a visit. The premise was simple: allow a few of their top athletes to explore some of our state’s choicest running trails and put their maximally cushioned shoes on a bunch of runners who had never tried them before. We put them on everybody from the inspiring members of Albuquerque’s Sole Sisters running club to a few of the city’s elite marathoners and trail runners. As is often the case, it turns out that more might in fact be more, and just about everybody found them faster and lighter than they would have thought.
