Therapeutic hypothermia helps reduce the risk of tissue injury by lowering a patient's temperature. The research involves cooling a specific part of the brain to protect the tissue by replacing blood in the area with a cooled crystalloid solution. Positive results could mean a less invasive procedure for patients and improved outcomes.
