Bikes from Lance Armstrong Film Go on Sale
More than 100 bikes from biopic available
Now that the Stephen Frears–directed Lance Armstrong biopic is in post-production, UK-based shop Ultimate Cycles is selling more than 100 of the bikes used in the movie.
According to BikeRadar, the film features a variety of period and retro-style bikes, with about half of them now available for purchase on the Ultimate Cycles website. The bike shop specializes in retro, classic, and replica bikes.
“The stock list includes 30-plus Condor Classico and Italia RC bikes painted to look like everything from Merckx to Giant and MBK, 12 Pitangos, 20 Trek 5000 up to Madone, then Pinarello, De Rosa, MBK, Gazelle, Peugeot, Cannondale, Specialized, Fausto Coppi, Giant, Look, Eddy Merckx, Lohber, Lemond,” Iain Ferguson of Ultimate Cycles told BikeRadar. “Even mountain bikes from Armstrong’s early career. As you can see, it’s a bit of a treasure trove.”
The shop will ship bikes internationally, and customers can schedule appointments to view them. No release date has been announced yet for the film, which details Sunday Times journalist David Walsh’s pursuit of Armstrong, whom Walsh suspected of doping on his way to seven Tour de France titles.
