Driver Who Ran Into Cyclists Charged
The driver who ran into cyclists during a Critical Mass Demonstration last Friday has been charged with attempted murder. The police changed the charges from 'criminal negligent injury' to attempted murder after testimony from the 47-year-old defendant, Ricardo Neis.
Though Neis claimed self defense through his lawyers, Treehugger.com reports that eyewitness accounts tell a different story—that Neis was yelling at cyclist and nudging them with his car before he drove through them. A report from Zero Hora (translated through google) said that Neis acknowledged on Monday he was aware of the risk he took when driving through the cyclists.
