This post resulted from a press release sent in March, that claimed to be an April Fools joke. You can read the full story here, including the possible lawsuit.
Besides recording, touring the world, and trying to save the planet, U2 wants to get into the cycling scene. Actually, the effort is more from Bono and The Edge, who have given their vocal support to Ireland's bid to host the 2011 Singlespeed Mountain Bike World Championships. They will be at this year's Worlds in Rotorua, New Zealand, in October to back their homeland and enjoy some pints in the process at the local pub.
Why get into bikes at this particular period of their illustriouscareer? It's “not just a fashion statement–we're rebooting our youth,” Bonosaid. “I think we might have finally found what we are looking for.”
But don't expect all of U2 to make an appearance in Kiwiland. “Adam and Larry won't be coming,” said The Edge, “but Bono and I might break out the guitars and do a bit of busking outside the official pub, the Pig and Whistle, if the local Events & Venues guys will give us a license.”
