Olympic skier Bode Miller will join the NBC Sports team as an on-air analyst, NBC Sports announced Monday in a press release. Miller will make his debut during the Birds of Prey alpine skiing event in Beaver Creek, Colorado, the only men’s World Cup stop in the United States.
Miller is one of the most successful skiers in U.S. history, having collected six Olympic medals—a record for American skiers—and winning gold at four world championships. He once competed at a World Cup event in Switzerland while still drunk from the night before. Miller told NBC Sports in October that it was “really unlikely” that he would compete in the 2018 Winter Games.
“We’re looking forward to Bode bringing his go-for-broke style from the slopes to the booth,” said John McGuinness, a coordinating producer for NBC Sports, in the release. “His outspoken style combined with his ability to articulate the technical aspects of the sport is a powerful combination that will benefit viewers.”
Miller said in the release that he is excited to experience a new side of competition. “I love to watch and analyze ski racing, so that part should be very natural for me.”
