Lino Lacedelli Dies at 83

Lino Lacedelli, one of the first climbers to summit K2, died this past Friday at the age of 83. Lacedelli and his climbing partner Achille Compagnoni made it to the summit of K2 in 1954. Lacedelli published an account of the climb in his book K2 – The Price of Conquest in 2004. In his book Lacedelli recounts his famous controversy with his original K2 climbing partner Walter Bonatti, with whom he had many disagreements.
