Atacama Extreme: Hitting the Gorges

“Nobody likes to run on pavement,” Ray Zahab said. “Expecially when it's 38 degree celsius pavement.”

Zahab's plans to run offroad across the Atacama desert were rudely interrupted by a huge gorge. Instead, he ran 21 km down the Pan-Pacific highway on little to no shoulder, between speeding trucks and a steep cliff. The interruption added another 35 km to his trip. For more on the run, check out today's video dispatch.
