A group of 15 alpinists reached the summit of Manaslu—the world’s eighth-highest mountain, at 26,781 feet—on Wednesday, according to ExplorersWeb. The ascent marks the only successful climb above 8,000 meters anywhere on earth this season and the first following the earthquake in Nepal last April that killed more than 9,000 people.

“Now we are on top of summit,” expedition leader Daniel Mazur tweeted on Wednesday. “We can see Everest. Hope we will get down OK. Tricky. Be careful!”

As Outside reported, following an early autumn avalanche on Manaslu in 2012, the mountain is particularly prone to disasters, but it remains the fifth most-climbed peak over 8,000 meters.
