There’s a little town in Florida called Titusville that would be completely unremarkable if not for two things: it’s right next to Cape Canaveral, and many of its inhabitants like to jump out of airplanesùwhich probably has something to do with the Sky Dive Space Center. Each year, sky surfers and sky divers flock there during the summer in order to carve air, belly-fly, and generally hang ten two and a half miles above the ground.

Hard-core jumpers like Eric Fradet and Alex Iodice, who teamed up to take first place in sky surfing at this year’s X Games, train there. Jon Smith lives there; by day he does “odds and ends,” by night he sleeps in the hangar to be near the planes. For instructor Dean O’Flaherty, free-flying is like a religion. His favorite move? That’d be the old head- down, legs-split, out-of-control spin: “I go so fast the world turns white.”

Strangely, none of them had ever jumped wearing Prada before. So we clothed them in fall’s functional-chic fashion and sent them skywardùall so that the next time you “hop and pop,” you’ll know exactly what to wear.
