Custom Outdoor Apparel from Beyond
If you're that guy who is always complaining that the sleeves are too short, the legs are too long, or the torso is too tight when you buy other outdoor apparel, a company called Beyond is waiting for your call. The Seattle company makes custom technical under and outerwear.
Beyond was founded by Scott Jones, who 16 years ago sewed his own custom fleece jacket for climbing and skiing in the Cascades. Obsessed with custom fit and personalized gear, Jones decided to craft under- and outerwear for outdoors people that was made to order.
On Beyond's website, you start with the items you want, say the softshell men's RoughRider Pant D. Pick your color. Next, add cargo pockets for $15 per leg. Suspenders will cost you an extra $25. Once you've selected your options, enter your measurements like inseam, outseam, waist, height, and weight. Hit build, and after a few final options on fit—like if you prefer snug or baggy—and some questions about how other brand's pants fit you—too short, too high riding—and what kind of boots you'll be wearing, enter your credit card info and you're good to go. In about five weeks, your pants will be delivered to your preferered address.
Long underwear, fleece, soft shell, Primaloft Insulated, and waterproof/breathable shells and bibs are all on Beyond's menu, as well as a customizable hat. The prices aren't outrageous, the materials are premium, and Beyond has a 100% Right Fit Guarantee. Available now, beyondclothing.com.
