Xavier Murillo, the head of the Paragliding World Cup Association, has gone missing near Huarez, Peru after a paragliding flight on Friday. Murillo, 49, was last seen at an altitude of around 6,000 meters. He was carrying both a radio and cellphone. A search and rescue opperation has been underway since Saturday, but poor visibility and questions about Murillo’s insurance policy have limited the use of aircraft. Murillo, who is French, was in Peru with a group of paragliders scouting the area for an X-Andes event next year. The Paragliding World Cup Association is currently raising funds for Murillo’s search and rescue effort.
