With an adult obesity rate of 33.8 percent, Mississippi is the fattest state in the nation, according to a study released this month. The eighth annual “F as in Fat” report from the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation found that twelve states now have obesity rates over 30 percent, compared to just one state four years ago. Minorities were disproportionately affected, with blacks and Latinos suffering the highest rates of obesity.
