The United States House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill on Monday that gives skis areas operating on Forest Service land the right to expand off-season activities such as hiking and mountain biking. The Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act amends the 1986 National Forest Ski Area Permit Act, which made such expansions difficult, and now awaits approval in the Senate.
