This is My Winter by Xavier de le Rue
Snowboarder Xavier de le Rue and the crew at Timeline Films have released the full version of the movie This is My Winter. It's a 28-minute-long flick that takes you behind the scenes of de le Rue's life and into the making of a high-quality snowboard film.
“There are so many moments, so many adventures, so many ways of seeing the mountains, and you only need a few magic days to film a part for a snowboard film, but this season it took me six months,” de le Rue starts the film saying. “This is my winter.”
The snowboarder and the filmmakers explain the rationale for pushing the limits in a number of different runs and mix it with footage of failures and successes. De le Rue tackles a number of different sketchy routes hard and fast—compiled as a mix of footage from helmet cams, heli-cams, and DSLRs with telephoto lenses—and walks you through what he's thinking on many of them. If you get stuck inside at any time this winter, take a look.
Here's the email he sent out announcing the movie.
“At this time of the year last season, with my friends Guido, Tero and Matthieu we’ve decided to create our own movie production company called TimeLine Film. With the support of my partners we have released a web series during the season. We’ve tried to document more than just the action and show people what it takes as effort, luck and commitment to get the best possible big mountain video part in TB20 from Standard Films. Although the snow conditions were terrible in Europe last winter we hoped all season long we could have enough unseen action and interesting backstage material to come up with a movie and have a chance to share our experience. Here it is, THIS IS MY WINTER !”
