Camera-phone quality gotcha down? Try Photojojo’s iPhone SLR mount for the iPhone 4. The $250 case allows users to screw on Canon or Nikon SLR lenses to their iPhone body. A focusing screen on the case adjusts through the iPhone’s permanent lens and the attached SLR lens. The iPhone then snaps an image of this focusing screen (though images must be rotated, as they appear upside-down because of refraction). The mount is not the first attempt at bridging the gap between smartphone cameras and digital SLRs. Whether it’s worth a purchase is debatable. Wired magazine reports that SLR camera quality comes from aperture and lighting adjustment settings as well as the lens, which the iPhone just doesn’t have—yet. An SLR mount for the iPhone 3 costs $190.
