News of a giant wave off the coast of Ireland has stoked additional interest in the country as a surfing destination. Some of the best Irish surfing footage we've seen came to us last week via Allison Otto. While at Banff, the frequent Outside video contributor heard about the short below. It's called Dark Side of the Lens, and it was put together by renowned surf photographer Mickey Smith.
“I wanted to create that something that would give insight into what it takes to grind out a living as a water-based photographer in the surfing industry,” Smith explained to Relentless. “To provide a short, experimental glimpse into life lived in the shadow of what is, for me, an obsessive pursuit.”
