Innovative Bike Wheel Gives the Power Back
Tomorrow, the Copenhagen Wheel, a simple wheel attachment for your bicycle that gathers power as you brake, will compete against an international field of inventions for a shot at the 2010 James Dyson Award, reports Discovery News.
Designed by a team of students at MIT, the Copenhagen wheel simply makes biking more user-friendly. The energy that the rider gains as they brake can be used when you are heading uphill or just want tocruise. The wheel can also be linked to an iPhone to give the riderdistance, direction, and pollution levels.
The Dyson Award is a competition that gives “an international design award that celebrates, encourages and inspires the next generation of design engineers,” according to their website. The team won the American round of the competition.
