Cycling apparel manufacturer Search and State was established in 2010, built on the belief that what you wear for the ride should motivate, inspire and do everything it can to keep you moving forward. It’s a company committed to American manufacturing and original pieces handmade in small runs. The company’s first collection launched online a month ago with a jersey and jacket. More pieces will be released through the spring, summer and fall.
“We started Search and State to celebrate cycling from a different point of view. This meant creating an aesthetic we love, a brand we believe in, and manufacturing in the heart of New York City,” says founding partner Devin O'Brien. There really is no substitute for making product where you live, with the best craftsmen and women in the industry. The ability to be in the sewing room every single day and oversee production is without question the best way to control the outcome of what you're making. Almost every step of our manufacturing operation takes place within a four-block radius in Midtown Manhattan … it's really an amazing process to be looped into every day.”
Search and State's S1-J jacket is warm when it's cold, breathes when it's hot, and is built to last. Made from Schoeller C-Change, it has a bionic climate membrane that opens and closes in reaction to changes in temperature to keep you perfectly regulated. The company's two-tone, quick-dry, anti-microbial S1-A Jersey is made from a lightweight, breathable fabric with a tailored fit. Available now, jacket $245, jersey $125, searchandstate.com
