A LUXE BAG FOR BIG DUDES
Norway-based Ajungilak (now owned by Mammut) started making sleeping bags nearly 120 years ago, and the accumulated experience shows in this deluxe, full-featured sack. For starters, the Altitude is made with top-shelf materials, like 780-fill down and a burly, highly water-resistant nylon shell. Plus it has smart details, like snag-free, watertight zippers, a snug and easily adjustable hood, and a large mesh pocket sewn into the top to stash damp socks or gloves. Not surprisingly, the cut is Viking-size, which is great if you thrash about or sleep with clothes or boot liners. 5ºF, 3.1 lbs; mammut.ch
Bonus: The Velcro tabs on the draft collar are the no-scratch kind, like on TNF’s Cat’s Meow.
Bummer: It was actually too roomy for our smallest testers, and all that excess fabric adds weight.
