The Best Streetwear of 2019
Warm, functional jackets with a strong dose of style
Helly Hansen Reykjavik 3-in-1 ($375)
The Reykjavik (men’s pictured) is one of the better travel jackets you’ll find. The waterproof polyester exterior is reminiscent of a wool city coat, the easy-to-unzip PrimaLoft-insulated interior pops out when you need something thinner, and the two merge to create a warm, weather-beating combo.
Obermeyer Dusty Down ($159)
The throwback design of the Dusty Down is so convincing, you might mistake it for vintage. But modern features make it as dependable as it is eye-catching: the polyester shell has a DWR coating to seal out moisture, and a wind guard fends off gusts. Lined with 550-fill down, the Dusty (women’s pictured) is eminently practical.
Burton Evergreen Down Collar Insulator ($225)
Designed to be warm in frigid conditions without overheating once the thaw arrives, the Evergreen (women’s pictured) uses Burton’s Living Lining, made from fibers that expand and contract to move moisture away from the body and regulate temperature. And soft down insulation means it packs up nice and small.
Fjällräven Greenland Re-Wool Shirt Jacket ($240)
Every once in a while, a piece of performance apparel comes along that looks so damn good, we get tester euphoria. The Greenland Re-Wool (men’s pictured) is made of 80 percent recycled material, has a couple of warm pockets, and is cut on the long side, making it suitable for wearing out on the town.
Rossignol Borrome ($725)
If the look you’re going for is French-ski-team-chilling-on-a-sun-deck, this is the après coat for you. Rossignol amped up the style with a tailored cut and flourishes of red, white, and blue. When the mercury drops, this waterproof synthetic piece (men’s pictured) has you covered with a stand-up collar and a spacious hood.
Sherpa Sonam ($120)
The Sonam is one of the cozier fleece jackets you’ll find. Made with Polartec Repreve (a.k.a. recycled water bottles), it’s extremely soft, with a collar that hugs the neck like a scarf. Handmade in Nepal, the Sonam (there’s a men’s version, too, minus the hood) also stands out for its prayer-flag-inspired zipper pull and drawcord.
