Bob Marley’s Daughter to Design Olympic Uniforms
Bob Marley's daughter Cedella Marley will design the Jamaican track and field team's uniforms for the 2012 Olympics in London, according to ESPN.com. Members of the team, including Usain Bolt, will wear versions of the uniforms throughout the games.
Cedella Marley is a singer, author and fashion designer in Jamaica and secured the contract with the team's apparel company, Puma, after approaching company chairman and CEO Jochen Zeitz.
“I said, 'Yo, Mr. Puma, how come you've not done anything with the Marleys? Come on, you know, Puma, Marley, Jamaica. It makes sense,” Marley said.
Bolt broke records in 100 and 200 meters at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and again at the World Championships in 2009. Along with Bob Marley, Bolt ranks among some of the most famous Jamaicans, and Cedella Marley looks forward to complementing the runner's performance with his clothes.
