From The Lean-To: AETHERstream
If you're in New York City this holiday season, make your way downtown (Prince and Mulberry to be exact) to see AETHER's AETHERstream. Yes, it's been there since the middle of November, so you might be reading this and thinking, “Been there. Done that.” But hey, t'is the holiday season—which means time for buying holiday gifts.
So what is the point of this thing? And who is AETHER?
AETHER is Palmer West and Jonah Smith, two former film producers in Los Angeles. Like many of us, they were outdoor sport enthusiasts looking for performance apparel that actually looked good. So they started AETHER and started making outdoor gear. The Space Hoodie, their signature piece, is one of my favorite coats.
And now for the AETHERstream: After finding a 34' PanAmerican Airstream, AETHER teamed up with Paris-based designer Thierry Gaugain to create a store on wheels. They gutted the interior, put in some reclaimed oak floor, a sofa and table from Environmental Furniture. And last, but certainly not least, they put in their mens and women fall/holiday 2011 line. So grab a cup of coffee and a thick cake donut and stop by before the shop leaves town.
