THE SELL: New look and new lenses from the O empire. THE TEST: The big headline here is Oakley’s fab new 00 Black Iridium lens, which dials back polarization just enough so that you can read your GPS, phone, and other LCD screens. Applause for the new purply tint—called Black because of the dark mirroring—that shows all things naturally and in exceptional detail. Coverage from the single-piece lens was as good as the optics, and the frame and temples, though bare-naked and slick, held on tight. THE VERDICT: Impressive blend of form and function. For the money, there could be grippy pads at the temples and nosepiece or some extras beyond the spare pair of snap-in O logos. (The coolest aftermarket O’s come in a set of eight that go for—yikes!—$96.)
