What do Mark Zuckerberg and President Obama have in common? They’ve both spoken out about reducing decision fatigue through clothing choice. Or put another way: Both wear almost the exactly the same thing every day, because it eliminates one simple choice they have to make. Instead of worrying about their outfits, they can focus their attention on, you know, the future of our democracy and/or Russian bots.

No matter your political leanings, you have to admit that Zuck and Barry’s clothing strategy is pretty smart. I’ve tried to adopt it as much as possible, and the brain power saved is noticeable. Keep things simple and you get more important shit done.

One way I’ve simplified is by wearing the Proof 72-Hour merino long-sleeve tee ($78) at least a couple times per week. This plain-colored, nicely tailored tee goes well with almost anything, from a pair of jeans to a blazer. Thanks to lots of stretch and the supersoft merino, it’s one of the comfiest shirts in my closet. I also own the short-sleeve version, which I wear all summer.

Just a few years ago, you had to be careful about wearing merino too often, because it would wear out. But Proof beefed up its wool by blending it with a bit of nylon, which gives the material added life and prevents shredding in the washing machine. Of course, those washings are few and far between—once every couple weeks—because the wool fights stink so well.

If you really want to maximize this shirt, wear it to the gym as a workout top and as a base layer for skiing, hiking, or any other cold-weather pursuit. You’ll need to wash it more frequently, of course, but even with that added wear, this tee should last you a couple years at least.
