Betabrand, manufacturer of quirky menswear with playful names, like pants called Sons of Britches, now offers formal sweatpants

At first glance, you might think that these high-end heathered gray French terry pants are in fact wool trousers. The front slash pockets and button down flap pockets in back help to make you think that what you're seeing is something else. But Dress Sweatpants have none of that wooly itch, nor do they need to be ironed or even dry cleaned—you can wash them in cold water and throw them in the dryer.

Betabrand says this new apparel is, “More than a pair of pants, this is an experiment in sartorial subterfuge.” We say that your boss and your coworkers might snicker if you wear them to the office. If you decide to test them out in a slightly less official forum, say the gym treadmill, or on Saturday morning at your kid's Little League game, let us know what happens—both with the pants and the people around you. Another option? Wear them for chores around the house—the knees are reinforced—perfect for time spent scrubbing the floor. Available now, $90,
