You have to hand it to big-mountain legend Jeremy Jones for launching a successful board line during the recession. Straight out of the gate, Jones’s boards won over our testers. In the end, though, it was the versatile Mountain Twin that had them wishing we could extend our test so they could keep riding it. Manufactured by Switzerland-based Nidecker—a family-owned company that’s been around for 125 years—Jones’s line is injected with its tried-and-true technologies. The Mountain Twin features Camrock, which makes it ride like a skateboard, thanks to a rockered tip and tail, with camber underfoot. While its sustainably harvested poplar-and-beech core lends it a playful and poppy feel, a multiradius sidecut (for extra contact points with the snow) adds control. “It has everything you’d want in a go-anywhere, do-anything board,” said one tester. “Solid edge-to-edge control at high speeds, a light swing weight for spins, stability for dropping cliffs, and enough heft to power through crud.”
