Outside is excited to unveil its 255 favorite products, featured in the winter Buyer’s Guide, on newsstands now. Editors and evaluators once again spent several months torture-testing the latest crop of skis, gloves, winter boots, puffy jackets, watches, adventure electronics, helmets, and more. This winter’s edition features more buying tips than ever, with expert advice on everything from goggle lens tints, to how to strap your skis to your pack, to how much insulation your winter boots should have. The issue also includes expanded avalanche airbag coverage as well as a wider selection of fat-tired, winter-ready mountain bikes.

The winners in the eight Gear of the Year categories are…

ALPINE SKIS: Dynastar Cham 97
SNOWBOARDS: Never Summer Proto CT/CTX
RUNNING SHOES: Salomon Snowcross CS
PACKS: Arc’Teryx Quintic 38
MULTI-USE JACKETS: La Sportiva Storm Fighter GTX

The Outside winter Buyer’s Guide not only highlights the very best in adventure gear, including everything from snowboards and backcountry skis to outerwear and ski accessories, but also calls out the best values in each class. This year’s issue contains over two dozen Killer Values—as well as 90 products under $150—in everything from goggles to baselayers to gloves. Organized according to sport and activity, the winter Buyer’s Guide is the ultimate resource for product reviews, technology, news, and tips.

Now in its 18th year, our biannual Buyer’s Guide reaches over 1.3 million frequent gear purchasers. The winter version will be on newsstands for several months. The iPad version, Outside+ Magazine, along with all our other monthly and special issues, will also be available for purchase on that date.
