My son's newest pair of shoes are Converse All-Stars. The same kind Eddie Haskell wore on Leave It to Beaver. The same kind hipsters have favored for years, from Brooklyn to Venice Beach. They're an American icon, and for good reason: they're the genuine article, they're comfortable, and they manage to be athletic shoes while managing to have nothing to do with actual exertion. Today we're living in a sneaker renaissance, as seen in these new models that borrow from either the classic court shoe or from their own retro heritage.
