Most surf shacks are hacked-together wrecks. But not this one. Created as a temporary installation at Design Miami’s art fare, the structure is part storage shed, part sun shade, and part architectural marvel.
Clear corrugated plastic and plywood make up most of the body, while long slats of darker wood create a sort of outdoor shelving system on which to display objects found on the beach. Inside, artist and designer Yves Béhar displayed his own collection of boards.
Fortunately the shack lived on beyond the art fair and was reassembled by Béhar at his home in Marin.
