We recently sent reporter Paddy O'Connell to Aspen, Colorado hoping the kind folks in this ski town could help him define some of backcountry skiing's more arcane lingo.

We were excited to test out the Atomic Backland 109 skis, and they didn’t disappoint. We loved the tapered tips and fun performance in fresh powder.

We had a lot of fun skiing the Blizzard Zero G 108 skis, and found them ideal for backcountry touring.

The La Sportiva Vapor Float skis are incredibly light and proved ideal for touring and powder skiing.
