After finding success with the Reel Rock Film Tour, a roving showcase of short films about climbers and their greatest feats, filmmakers Josh Lowell and Peter Mortimer decided they wanted to expand into bigger audiences. That’s how the Reel Rock TV series was born. The show presents climbing and mountaineering adventures in episodic format, often featuring major athletes like Alex Honnold and Adam Ondra. Episodes pair the visually stunning production and settings seen in the film tour’s fare with sharing brief stories about climbers and climbing culture across the globe. This year Outside TV will be airing the first five seasons in their entirety. Make sure to catch the special multi-part series that dive into specific climbing feats like Chris Sharma’s first ascent of the dramatic Es Pontàs in the Mediterranean and Honnold and Tommy Caldwell’s attempt to set the speed climbing record on the Nose route of El Capitan. Find the show on Outside TV+ every Friday at 8 P.M. EDT, starting May 7.
