Luxury Comes Cheap

Pata-Gucci? Not in this case. The Snowshot was one of the least expensive jackets in our test but also a tester favorite. Like the Cloudveil, it’s an ideal everyday, all-season jacket for Rocky Mountain resorts. It’s stuffed with the perfect amount of synthetic insulation. It’s waterproof. You can easily access your phone or iPod without unzipping your jacket. And thanks to big pit zips, you can quickly dump heat when the sun comes out—or you decide to take a quick hike. The cut was a bit too loose and billowy for most testers’ tastes, and the removable hood proved snug on larger helmets. But that’s being extremely nitpicky. If we gave an award to the best-value insulated ski jacket of the year, this would take the prize.
