Heavy winter snowfall in North Dakota means intense spring flooding, according to reuters.com. The state is bracing for an especially angry flood this week, beginning on Tuesday night. The Red River is expected to crest at 38 feet by the weekend (last year topped out at 40.84 feet) The National Guard has joined with community members to place hundreds of sandbags where the flood will hit the hardest, in hopes of saving not only homes but vital farm land as well.
