After a series of setbacks, including frozen water pipes, the Teton Ice Park will open this Saturday, December 19, at Grand Targhee Resort. The park, which was inspired by the Ouray Ice Park in Colorado, is located on cliffs in Alta, Wyoming, known as the 'Parking Lot of Rocks.' The climbing area is 100 feet wide by 100 feet tall, with 40 feet of advanced vertical climbing and 60 feet of terrain ideal for learning the sport. A 3,000-gallon water tanker feeds low-flow showerheads that spray the wall to form the ice. A Teton Ice Park membership is $40 and supports the cost of ice-making; it also includes discounts from local businesses.
